My Little Pony Live: The World's Biggest Tea Party was a live show that was first began in October 2006 and later concluded its performance in September 2008 when the show was finally released on DVD by Hasbro and Paramount Home Entertainment with the overture, intermission, and goodbyes cut out during the opening and ending credits. It featured around 14 characters from the G3 movies, including Spike, Zipzee, Tra-La-La, Tiddly Wink, and even 3 anthropormorphic ladybugs.

The show has a main story with the ponies and a bit of a side-story with Spike and the ladybugs. It was the only live show produced for the franchise and was rather long, longer than any of the G3 movies released before it. It was filmed at The Kodak Theatre aka The Dolby Theatre. It was produced by VEE Corporation (AKA VStar Entertainment).

Plot[]

In Act I, the show first started while Spike and the ladybugs are first to greet the audience and Spike asks the audience if they've seen his special purple How-To book that the ladybugs have kept hidden away, explaining that it knows everything, including how to find itself. The ponies are then revealed with working eyes and moving mouths. Sweetberry welcomes the audience to her sweet shop and introduces a few of the ponies by name in a song. The curtain closes and then Rarity and Minty come out on stage to introduce themselves. Then the breezies call out Pinkie Pie from brushing her teeth. She introduces herself by saying she likes pink, and then goes off to Sweetberry's shop while Spike is still looking for his book. They open the curtains to the shop, where the ponies plan their fun for the day. Pinkie Pie realizes they have too many ideas to pick from and decides to use her Pinkie Squink to figure out how they're going to do all of the things they plan on doing. Eventually, she decides to have a tea party. But not just any tea party; the world's biggest tea party. The ponies decide to have the tea party at Rarity's castle in Unicornia. Since there's much to do before the party, each pony sings about their contributions as they set the party up. Later, things are coming together but Rarity hasn't brought the streamers she promised to bring to the party yet. Before the intermission, Spike, the ladybugs, and the eight ponies told the audience to take a break and they will be back again for the next act.

In Act II, the show starts again with Spike still missing his book. The ponies have made it to Unicornia and get ready for the tea party. They start chanting "tea" and encourage the audience to join in, but there's only one little problem. In keeping everyone else in line, Pinkie has forgotten to bring the teapot, leaving the party without tea. With a little help from Minty, the ponies decide to go ahead with the tea party anyway and Spike finally finds his book. Reading it, he gets the audience to help him magically conjure up a giant teapot with a poem out of the book. As the show ends, Spike, the three ladybugs, and the eight ponies thanked all the audience and said goodbye to each other.

Design[]

Each pony has puppet featured eyes and mouths that sync up with the audio track that plays throughout the show. As the show progresses, the scenery changes and there's even sound effects to replicate being in different places. Each pony's hind legs are stationary and thus do not move.
